A structure of bent wood weaves through the trees
Philip Krohn & AUXART, "Hawks and Doves" in process in di Rosa's Olive Grove.

The Olive Grove
July – November, 2024

Hawks and Doves by Philip Krohn and AUXART is a site-specific sculptural installation taking shape in di Rosa’s Olive Grove and Sculpture Meadow. Installation and fabrication began on site in early July and will continue to evolve through the summer, completing fabrication in early September and remaining on view through November 2024.

Hawks and Doves explores concepts of flight lines, points of view, separation and intersection, and rhythm and resolution. Extending over 150 yards, and weaving through and between trees and brush, the work cannot be seen in one piece. It is instead experienced as a passage through time and movement through space.

The public is invited to witness the work-in-process over the coming months, with Krohn present and working on-site most Thursdays and Fridays during di Rosa’s open hours, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Once completed, the sculptural work will include a bird blind, which visitors may enter, from which the more than 200 species of birds that make their home on di Rosa’s grounds may be observed.
