Abstract pattern in red, blue, and black

Lance Gordon: Rhythm Painting #one

May 3 – August 24
Nightly, Dusk – Midnight
Gallery 1 Exterior

Lance Gordon’s Rhythm Painting #one developed out of his work with Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show, a psychedelic, performative light show rooted in the San Francisco tradition. To create his visual effects, Gordon swirls ink, mineral oil, and rubbing alcohol between clock faces to create moving patterns, which he then feeds into a video mixer and computer for digital manipulation and image processing. The resulting short film is a twenty-minute abstract narrative comprised of stark, graphic visuals in vibrant, kaleidoscopic color.

Rhythm Painting #one will be on view on the exterior of di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art’s Gallery 1 nightly from dusk – midnight, May 3 – August 24, visible to passers-by on the Carneros Highway.
